The New Tote Trifecta, which replaces the old Trio, involves you selecting the 1st, 2nd and 3rd horses home in the correct order. The Trifecta will not commence until Wednesday 26th of May at Punchestown. This bet is available with the Tote on all races with 8 or more declared runners. The Trifecta is the ideal bet in big runner fields when you fancy a few horses. As it can be slightly harder to select three horses home, the payouts are often very high.

The new Tote Trifecta costs just 50cent per line to play, and the dividends will be declared to a 50 cent stake. The maximum wager per bet is €500. If the Trifecta pool is not won on a race, the pool will now roll over to the 6th race on the day.

Combination Trifecta
You can also select more than three horses when doing the Trifecta. You pick three or more horses, and they can finish in the first three in any order. Thus, should any combination of your selected horses finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd in any order, you win! Whilst selecting more horses will increase your chances of winning, the more horses you select the more your bet will cost you.

Costs at a 50cent stake:
3 horse combination trifecta (3 horses in any order) costs €3
4 horse combination trifecta costs €12
5 horse combination trifecta costs €30

Bankers
Another option is to do a Banker Trifecta and select 1 or 2 bankers and combine them with a number of others. Selecting a banker means that you must pick the horse you think will finish 1st, and then pick other horses which can finish in either 2nd or 3rd position.

Remeber, If there is no winner of the Trifecta pool then the total pool is rolled over to the 6th race. Please note, if the Trifecta rollover occurs after the 6th race at a meeting, it will roll on to the 6th race at the next race meeting.
