Dramatic Finish To Dubai World Cup
The first Dubai World Cup at billion-dollar Meydan on Saturday ended in a dramatic finish as last year's runner-up Gloria De Campeao just held on in the tightest of three-way photos. Representing French trainer Pascal Bary, the six-year-old took the richest race the world has ever seen by a nose from the Mike De Kock-trained Lizard's Desire. The latter's jockey Kevin Shea clearly thought he had won the $10 million contest after flying down the straight on the outside of the eventual third Godolphin's Allybar, as he punched the air soon after the line, but alas the photo showed that the French raider had edged the verdict.
