With an average pay-out of €446 in 2015 the Tote Trifecta gives a chance to win huge sums of money for small stakes in every single race; in April 2015 at Gowran Park the Trifecta paid a staggering €9,128! It might be tricky to get a winning combination but when you do it really pays off.

The Tote Trifecta is a minimum of 10c per line to play but the dividends will be declared to a €1 stake. The maximum stake per line is €500.

How To Play Tote Trifecta:

Straight Trifecta

Pick the horses to come 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the correct order. This is a good option for races with smaller fields where there is a short priced favourite. This will cost the same as your stake:
€1 Straight Trifecta Horse 1, Horse 2 and Horse 3 = €1

Combination Trifecta
The most common way to play the trifecta a combination trifecta allows you to pick as many horses as you fancy and if they finish first, second and third in any order then you have a winner.

As there are multiple lines Combination Trifectas do cost more than a Straight Trifecta. A €1 Combination Trifecta would cost €6 as there are six possible winning combinations;
  1. Horse 1, Horse 2, Horse 3
  2. Horse 1, Horse 3, Horse 2
  3. Horse 2, Horse 1, Horse 3
  4. Horse 2, Horse 3, Horse 1
  5. Horse 3, Horse 2, Horse 1
  6. Horse 3, Horse 1, Horse 2

Banker Trifecta
If you think you are sure of the winner or even the first two in a race but want the chance to boost your potential winnings then a Banker Trifecta may be the right choice for you.
Selecting a banker horse means that you are picking that particular horse to finish in that particular place. The cost will depend on the number of horses you choose:
€1 Banker Trifecta with;
  • 1 Banker + 2 Horses costs €2
  • 1 Banker + 3 Horses costs €6
  • 1 Banker + 4 Horses costs €12
  • 1 Banker + 5 Horses costs €20
Remember that you can play Trifecta from as little as 10c to keep the cost down but the dividend will always be given to €1. That means if you win with a 10c Trifecta you will be paid 10% of the return shown on screens.

If there is no winning trifecta bet in a race the pool will be treated as follows:

  • When there is a rollover or a partial rollover, 50% of the rollover amount will always roll to the next available Race 6 and 50% will roll to Race 6 on the following Sunday.
  • The exception being when there is a rollover from any Race 6 on a weekday or a Sunday  this will roll 100% to Race 6 on the following Sunday.
  • In the case of double fixtures on Sunday, Tote will notify customers on to which meeting the rollover will be applied.
  • Tote Super Sunday Trifecta for 16th April 2017 will move to Race 5 on 17th April 2017 for the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse.
